  Teaching

  In addition to working as a statistics lecturer, Ellen has over a decade of experience teaching short statistics courses in the workplace.  Ellen specialises in teaching the core concepts of statistics and quantitative research to ensure students have the knowledge and skills needed to apply learning to their own research.  Ellen is passionate about statistics education being applied and ran projects for students to work directly with employers at Sheffield Hallam University to enhance their employability skills.

  Support

  Ellen has worked at several UK institutions providing individual statistics guidance and teaching.  Whilst in these roles, she developed a suite of additional resources for a wide range of statistical topics, workshops covering key topics, an online tool for choosing the right statistical technique and resources to help train new statistics tutors.

  In 2015 she received an ‘Innovation in academic skills development’ award from the University of Sheffield and a national sigma award for ‘Outstanding contributor in the field of mathematics and statistics support’.

   Research/consultancy

  Ellen’s main research areas are statistics education and anxiety but she has also worked with colleagues from a variety of disciplines and companies in research or consultancy roles.
